Before trance legends Cosmic Gate take the stage at Maya Day and Night Club this Friday we wanted to spotlight the bright career this duo has had. There is a lot to cover so lets dive right in!
In 1999, Claus Terhoeven and Stefan Bossems both happened to be recording at the same studio in Cologne, Germany. Upon meeting they came to the realization that they were both from Krefeld, Germany. Quickly a friendship was sparked and more importantly the idea of a group project called ‘Cosmic Gate’ was created. That same year they released their first single ‘The Drums’ and followed up in 2001 with ‘Exploration of Space’ and ‘Fire Wire’. All three tracks took a life of their own and Cosmic Gate was catapulted into the top tiers of the trance world.
In 2009, Cosmic Gate became one of the fastest climbers in DJ Mag’s Top 100 history. In just one year, the duo was able to climb an impressive 43 spots all the way up to #19 on the list. The next year the duo remained incredibly near the peak at spot #25.
Since the creation of Cosmic Gate in 1999 the duo has been a staple in the Trance community. Their original productions have thrust them to the highest reaches of download charts & streaming lists, while their collaborations have included everyone from scene legends like Armin van Buuren to Markus Schulz.
In addition to a gigantic roster of original productions and remixes, the duo plays almost 130 gigs a year and have performed at massive festivals including Tomorrowland and Ultra Europe.
