Alain Macklovitch, or as you may know him, A-Trak, has been a notable figure in the realm of electronic music from the get-go. This native of Montreal has been a master on the decks since the age of 13. When his peers were out playing sports, A-Trak dedicated hours upon hours mastering the craft of turntablism. His hard-work and perseverance ultimately paid off a few short years later when he not only became the first Disk Jockey to win three major titles (DMC, ITF, Vestax), but the first to win five DJ world championships.
To say that A-Trak made a grand entrance in to the industry is an understatement, to say the least. It seems as though music runs in the Macklovitch blood, as Alain’s brother, David, is one-half of the DJ Duo, Chromeo. In addition, A-Trak himself, is a member of the DJ Duo, Duck Sauce, with Armand Van Helden. Throughout the course of his career, he has helped establish the careers of artists of the likes of Kid Cudi, Danny Brown, and Flosstradamus. His incredible success provided him with the opportunity to establish his own record-label, Fool’s Gold, which is the home of many other successful figures like Dombresky, Laidback Luke, Malaa, and Tchami, just to name a few.
In less than a month, he will be hosting the 2nd Annual Goldie Awards, a competition with a DJ Battle and Beat Battle judged by Mark Ronson, Just Blaze, Craze, Murda Beatz, El-P, Anna Lunoe, and Boys Noize, and Venus X. Check out this video of the infamous DJ playing Rhythm Roulette…
Until then, we are extremely excited to have him play this FRIDAY at Maya Day and Nightclub! If you want to see this musical mastermind scratching in the flesh, be sure to pick up your ticket HERE!
